Performed as a nasopharynx swab
Rapid tests constitute a new cornerstone in the containment of the emerging COVID-19 pandemic with the Coronavirus Research Ordinance (TestV) of October 14, 2020. These tests can be carried out by qualified professionals on site and identify the COVID-19 pathogen and its antigens immediately afterward.
A nasopharyngeal swab is taken from the back of the nose (recommended) or area of the throat and applied to the test cassette. This works according to the theory of lateral flow and shows results within 10 to 15 minutes whether the sample could detect COVID-19 antigens.
